dairy & gluten free in legoland florida

Eating dairy-free and gluten-free at LEGOLAND Florida is entirely doable. The park offers a downloadable dietary guide, well-trained staff, and clearly labeled options across dining locations. On both of our visits we found the staff knowledgeable and the food choices accommodating.

July 2017 Visit

On our first trip to LEGOLAND Florida, we had a fantastic time. The rides were a hit with the whole family, and the food options for dairy- and gluten-free diets impressed us. I had heard good things about the park and its resident deals, so we planned a visit—but first I wanted to make sure our dietary needs would be respected.

Before booking, I checked LEGOLAND Florida’s website and found a helpful dining section with a downloadable dietary guide that lists gluten-, dairy- and allergy-friendly menu items throughout the park. While the guide was reassuring, having options listed online isn’t the same as knowing how food is prepared, so I contacted the park directly to ask about preparation procedures and cross-contact precautions.

I heard back from the Food & Beverage Quality & Safety Supervisor within 24 hours each time I wrote. The responses were detailed and reassuring. The team listed specific locations that offer gluten- and dairy-free items and even offered the option to bring a cooler of food into the park to ensure a safe meal—an indication that the park takes medically necessary dietary restrictions seriously.

The information the park provided was so thorough that I’m sharing the questions and answers I received below.

My daughter has celiac disease and a dairy allergy. What safe dining options are available at LEGOLAND Florida?

Answer: The park provided a list of locations and options that can accommodate gluten and dairy allergies. Key options include:

  • Castle Burger – Burgers can be prepared without cheese on a gluten-free bun. French fries and grilled chicken salads are available.
  • Panini – Grilled sandwiches and green salads can be made without cheese. Ham, roast beef and chicken Florentine paninis can be prepared on gluten-free bread upon request.
  • Market Restaurant – Cold sandwiches and salads can be prepared without cheese on gluten-free bread upon request. Fruit cups and Lay’s chips are also available.
  • Burger Kitchen – Burgers can be served without cheese or sauce on a gluten-free bun upon request; French fries are available.

Snacks and dessert:

  • Apple Fries – Granny’s (without whipped cream)
  • Slushies – Dino Treats and Fun Town Slush
  • Popcorn and ice pops – Traffic Cart and Market Cart
  • Adventure Snacks – gluten-free and dairy-free snack selections

The park also encouraged guests who prefer extra assurance to bring a small soft-sided cooler or bag (no glass) with allergen-free food. If you dine at the park, tell the team member about all allergies and sensitivities before ordering. Management can assist, and each location keeps an Allergen Binder listing ingredients to help you choose safe options.

Are the fries cooked in a fryer that isn’t shared with gluten or dairy items (e.g., chicken fingers or onion rings)?

Answer: Yes. The fries are cooked in dedicated fryers. There are separate fryers for protein items like chicken and fish.

Are gluten-containing items cooked on the same surface as burgers, or can they be prepared on a separate clean pan?

Answer: While no operation can guarantee zero risk of cross-contact, the park uses an allergen order procedure when requested. That includes an individual preparation kit with separate cutting board, knife and containers stored apart from regular kitchenware. Staff do their best to avoid cross-contamination and will involve leadership at the point of sale to verify ingredients and preparation steps. On the day of your visit, ask a manager to assist with preparation if you have concerns.

Our Experience

We had a great visit. Although we brought our own food as a precaution, we didn’t need to use it. At each dining location we spoke with staff before ordering; they were attentive and careful, changing gloves and using separate cutting boards and knives as needed. We felt the park took dietary restrictions seriously and were impressed by their accommodations.

During our visit we enjoyed popsicles at Market Restaurant, Apple Fries at Granny’s, and a burger and fries at Burger Kitchen—all tasty and handled with care.

February 2020 Update

We returned in February 2020 and had another positive experience. The park added allergy signs at registers across dining locations, demonstrating a visible commitment to food allergy and celiac communities.

Staff make allergen binders available when asked; these binders list ingredients and allergen guidelines for every menu item in each restaurant. On this visit we also noticed expanded gluten-free and allergy-friendly snack choices, including cookie stations, vegan soft-serve options, and more popsicles.

Burger Kitchen remains a favorite—gluten-free buns are excellent and the fries cooked in the dedicated fryer are delicious.

More Orlando Activities

If you’re visiting the Orlando area, consider also exploring Walt Disney World, which is known for being allergy-friendly. Other parks and restaurants often offer helpful accommodations for guests with celiac disease and food allergies.
