Originally I developed this creamy avocado sauce a few years ago while searching for the ideal rich, flavorful topping for pan-seared salmon. After many experiments, I landed on a light but deeply flavored sauce that we keep coming back to.

Creamy avocado sauce is a versatile and delicious fish taco sauce made with avocado, fresh basil, olive oil, cream, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. The avocado lends a fresh, buttery texture, while basil, lemon, and garlic add bright, aromatic flavor.
What to Put It on
This avocado sauce works beautifully on fish tacos and pairs well with a variety of proteins and dishes. Here are some favorites:
- Blackened fish tacos
- Shrimp tacos
- Sesame beef tacos
- Pan-seared salmon
How to Make Creamy Avocado Sauce
Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit more cream, a splash of water, or additional olive oil to reach your desired consistency. For fish tacos, a slightly thinner sauce makes it easier to drizzle.
If you don’t have a full-size blender, a single-serve unit such as a Ninja or NutriBullet works well.
