Fun fact: I’ve only bought chocolate sauce once — maybe twice — in my life. I rarely put sauce on ice cream, and when I needed it for baking I always melted a few ingredients together on the stove. After years of improvising, I developed a clear, reliable recipe that makes a rich, intensely chocolatey sauce you can easily reproduce at home.

I remember how disappointed I was by the artificial, thin-tasting sauces from my childhood. That experience pushed me to create a homemade version that is truly chocolatey, smooth, and free of any off flavors. The result is straightforward, fast, and delicious — the best chocolate sauce you can make at home.

Ingredients

  • 250 g Dark Chocolate
  • ½ Cup Milk
  • 3 Tbsp. Golden Syrup
  • ¼ Cup Extra Milk, (optional)

Instructions

  • Place the chocolate, milk, and golden syrup in a small pot over medium heat.
  • Stir continuously until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  • Remove from heat and serve warm, or allow to cool before storing.
  • Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat gently before using if needed.

Notes

For a thinner sauce, add extra milk. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, use milk chocolate or a mix of milk and dark chocolate. Scale the recipe up or down to make larger or smaller batches.
