Cadbury Egg Rice Krispies

What I love about these is how fast and easy they are to make. You can prepare them the same day or a few days ahead. Make them larger for generous servings or smaller for party trays and Easter baskets — they’re pliable enough to shape into cute Easter eggs.

How to Make Microwave Easter Rice Krispies

The fastest way to make the gooiest Rice Krispie treats is in the microwave. Use a very large microwave‑safe bowl because the marshmallows will puff up as they melt. If you prefer, the stove-top method works just as well—melt butter and marshmallows in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in the cereal and Cadbury eggs. Both methods are provided below so you can use whichever you prefer.

Microwave Method

  1. Line an 8×8, 9×9, or 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper or foil and lightly grease. (Use an 8×8 or 9×9 for thicker squares; a 9×13 pan yields thinner bars.)
  2. Place the mini marshmallows and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave in short bursts, stirring between intervals, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
  5. Gently fold in the Cadbury Mini Eggs.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly grease your hands or the bottom of a measuring cup and press the mixture down evenly (or use a sheet of wax paper to press without sticking).
  7. Allow the treats to set for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Stove-top Method

  • Line an 8×8, 9×9, or 9×13 dish with parchment paper or foil and lightly grease.
  • Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan over low heat until smooth and creamy.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies until fully coated.
  • Fold in the Cadbury Mini Eggs.
  • Press the mixture into the prepared pan using greased hands, a greased measuring cup, or a sheet of wax paper to avoid sticking.
  • Let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing into squares.

Tips for the Easter Rice Krispies

  • Use fresh marshmallows — older marshmallows can be dry and won’t melt as smoothly.
  • Choose pan size according to how thick you want the bars to be: 8×8 or 9×9 for thicker squares, 9×13 for thinner bars.
  • Don’t overload with extra cereal. Less cereal keeps the treats soft and chewy.
  • Press the mixture gently; pressing too hard makes the bars dense and stiff.
  • Adding extra marshmallows creates pockets of gooey softness throughout the treats.
  • Let the treats cool before cutting. Lightly spray your knife with non-stick spray and wipe it before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Store in a tightly sealed container for 2–3 days for best texture.
  • For longer storage, freeze in an airtight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag for up to 2 months.
