Bacon Wrapped Asparagus — a simple, crowd-pleasing side dish that pairs tender asparagus with savory bacon for a delightful contrast of flavors.

I admit it — I love asparagus. Wrapped in bacon and roasted, it becomes an easy, impressive side that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining.
This recipe keeps things straightforward: bundle the asparagus, wrap with bacon, season, and roast or grill. The bacon lends a salty richness while the asparagus stays bright and tender.

How to cook Bacon Wrapped Asparagus:
There are many ways to prepare this, but this method is quick and reliable.
Start by trimming the woody ends from a bunch of asparagus and dividing the spears into bundles. I made six bundles of roughly five spears each, but you can adjust the count based on the thickness of your spears and how many servings you want.
Wrap each bundle with a single slice of bacon, letting the ends overlap slightly so the bacon holds the spears together. Arrange the bundles on a prepared baking sheet.

Whisk together olive oil and garlic powder, then brush that mixture over the asparagus and bacon. Season with fine sea salt and freshly cracked pepper.
Roast in a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven for about 15–22 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bacon and asparagus. The bacon will cook through but won’t be deeply crispy — that keeps the bite pleasant with the vegetable. If desired, brush the hot bacon with a little maple syrup for a sweet counterpoint; this is optional and the dish is great without it.

How to make Grilled Bacon Wrapped Asparagus:
You can also make these on the grill. Preheat a gas grill to about 400°F (200°C). Place the bundles directly on the grill grates and cook about 5 minutes, then flip and grill an additional 5 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked through and the asparagus is tender-crisp.

Serve warm. If you’ve used a generous amount of bacon, transfer the bundles to a paper towel-lined plate for a minute to blot any excess grease. Whether roasted or grilled, these bundles are a flavorful, easy addition to any meal.
Enjoy — and if you make them, come back and share how they turned out!

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

Ingredients
- 1 bunch of asparagus, ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
- fine sea salt and pepper to taste
- 6 slices of bacon, I do not recommend thick cut bacon as it will take too long to cook compared to the asparagus
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, optional
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
-
Divide the asparagus into 6 bundles (or more/fewer as desired). I used six bundles of about five spears each. Wrap a bacon slice around the center of each bundle so it overlaps slightly, then place the bundles on the prepared baking sheet.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil and garlic powder. Brush this mixture over the bacon and asparagus, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Roast for 15–22 minutes, until the bacon is cooked and the asparagus is tender. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease if desired.
-
Optional: brush each bundle with a little maple syrup after baking for a touch of sweetness.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
